The Barrier Islands Center is a fun and educational destination for students of all ages, with engaging and immersive galleries as well as opportunities for students to view and discuss any of the BIC films documenting aspects of life on and around the barrier islands. Our new Fun in the Attic galleries add even more student-friendly exhibits to the experience. A field trip to the BIC is a great way for students to appreciate their own local history.
Eastern Shore pre-school and Kindergarten classes should speak to Education Director Sally Dickinson about joining the My First Field Trip program.
Can't bring your class to the BIC? The BIC can come to your school! Programs can be customized to your needs and include presentation and discussion of the BIC documentary films, Hog Island Sheep books, a Virtual Tour of the Museum or other topics related to the cultural history and traditions of the Barrier Islands of Virginia.
