Long Steel Rail: Songs of the Railroad presented by The Broad Street Ramblers

Cost: FREE

The mythic status of the railroad in American folklore is unparalleled. Fascination with the machines and men who created the vast steel network that linked city to country and spanned the nation coast to coast resulted in thousands of familiar songs. As with the rest of America, the railroad was fundamental to the transformation of the Eastern Shore in the nineteenth century. The Broad Street Ramblers will celebrate this legacy with a multimedia presentation featuring rare photographs, period recordings, and live music featuring brave engineers, traveling hobos, gandy dancers, and much more!
