Virginia's Barrier Islands and the American Revolution

Speaker: Dr. Theodore Corbett
Cost: FREE

Many assume that nothing happened on the barrier islands of Virginia during the American Revolution because they were uninhabited. Dr. Theodore Corbett will show that the islands prospered as alternative ports of entry for vital munitions because the British had effectively blockaded the Chesapeake Bay.  Occasionally island militia confronted British warships.  Corbett has published nine history books and taught at Salisbury University.
