Coffee Hour Lecture: Down on the Farm - Songs of Land, Labor, and Nature

  • Musicians: Gregg Kimball and Cluny Brown.
  • Cost: FREE

The American people have produced a rich body of folk music celebrating barnyard animals, extolling farm products, and documenting the hard life of the farmer. It seems especially appropriate to pay tribute to the music of farming at the Barrier Island Center, once the county alms house and a working farm. Gregg Kimball and Cluny Brown, members of the Broad Street Ramblers, will present a multimedia presentation featuring rare photographs, period recordings and live music featuring clucking hens, chatty boll weevils, barnyard dances, frustrated farmers, punishing droughts, and much more!
