Carving Class with PG Ross

100.00

Saturday, November 11 from  1:00-4:00 p.m. AND Sunday, November 12 from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Participants will make a traditional style "robin snipe" (aka red knot) shorebird decoy. Ross will share stories of duck hunting and good old common sense wisdom while learning the basics of carving. Ross grew up gunning waterfowl on marshes and waters on the Eastern Shore. Using and admiring handmade wooden decoys inspired him to start whittling in his mid-teens. Today, he makes decoys using traditional tools and techniques that are based on characteristics of live birds. However, their form has been strongly influenced by both past and modern carvers who fashion birds in the gunning tradition.
Class open to both children and adults (maximum 10 students)
Cost: $100 per person
